The Challenge
Rackstor UK Ltd was appointed to deliver a specialist mobile shelving installation for a British Army facility in Southern England, providing a high-density archive and storage solution designed to maximise available floor space while maintaining excellent accessibility. The project involved the complete installation of 24 bays of single skin Delta shelving mounted onto Rackstor's precision-engineered System-R mobile bases, together with a fully raised chipboard flooring system and an aluminium access ramp.
The Solution
Scope of works included installation of 24 bays of premium single skin Delta shelving; assembly and installation of the Rackstor System-R mobile shelving base system; installation of a raised chipboard infill floor; fitting of a heavy-duty aluminium access ramp; precise levelling and alignment of the mobile carriage system; mechanical adjustment and testing of all moving components; operational testing and final commissioning; and full client handover. Mobile shelving systems allow multiple shelving runs to occupy the space normally required for a single static aisle, eliminating unnecessary fixed walkways. The Rackstor System-R provided smooth and reliable operation, maximum use of available floor space, easy access to stored materials, durable construction and a professional finish with integrated flooring and ramp access. Mobile shelving is widely used throughout defence facilities, military establishments, government buildings, museums, libraries, hospitals, universities, police facilities, archive stores and commercial offices. Compared with traditional static shelving, mobile shelving can often increase storage capacity by up to 80%.
The Result
Upon completion, the installation delivered approximately 120 linear metres of additional organised storage with excellent space utilisation, smooth and reliable mobile operation, safe access via the aluminium ramp, and a clean, professional installation. The result is increased storage density without building alterations and a future-proof storage solution.
